I just came across a set of 8 hole 16" wheels from a "S" class. Will that size fit my 1986, 300E and, what size of tire would it take to avoid messing up the speedo?
Thanks!

WHAT IS THE PART NUMBER OF THE WHEELS YOU FOUND? IF IT BEGINS WITH 124 THEY WILL FIT FOR SURE.

If I remember correctly the S and SL's had 16x7.5" wheels. I forget the offset offhand (Benzmac, help!) but the tire sizes will be different for a W124 vs a W140. Since it is a 16" wheel you will either need 225/50/16 or 205/55/16 to match the stock (195/65/15) rolling radius. 225/50/16 will fill up the fenders, 205/55/16 will be more subtle.

Hope this helps...Lee

I do not have the wheel numbers but, I know they are 16" from a S class and, they will take a 16" tire vs a stock 15". However, would the rims fit?
TIA

Please do let me know if you did succeed in getting to S class wheels to fit on you car. I am having the same problem (87 300E. I called my local MB dealer and they said i need to use the right size lug nuts to avoid hitting the calipers. I did get my tires in but they did not turn because they for too close to the shocks. My question to you is did you get the right size lug nuts or you gave up. Please email me donalarms@yahoo.com directly.
Thanks.
