What tires for ML430?
Can I fit any of the BFG All-Terrain sizes on my stock 17" rims?
- Can the computer be reprogrammed for a new diameter? I notice that Michelin All-Terrain 275/60SR17 comes with White Letters. Why not on the 275/55HR17 ? Any other suggestions? I'm in CA, Bay Area, but grip in rain and a tire that don't get to stiff in low(30-40F) temp is a plus. I have a 2001 ML430, stock hight. Thanks, Nimo |

if you truely want an All Terrain Off Road tire the only choice you have is the Yokohama Geolander A/T in a 245/65-17 size which has the correct diameter but, is a little more norrow than the OE tire size

Sport...
Consider the ML a SUV that will never see off-roading. If you do, then what luke suggested is probably the best for you. But if your ML stays on the road, I can't see why you wouldn't take advantage of TireRack's special on the Dunlop SP Sport 5000. I wish they were in that size when I bought my tires. for $110, its a bargain. It will deff make the suv corner much better then my stock GrandTreks. Plus if you don't get snow, this seems the obvious choice. If you want another good option its the Geolanders in stock size.

Thanks for the advice.
Went with a friend on a Jeep Jamboree this weekend and its clear that Off Road requires special tires – But driving 800 miles on them to get there is not as thrilling. My ML will stay on the streets and will get tires optimized for handling on the street. Thanks, Nimo |
