Another question about SLK rims on 190E RE: lug nuts

hi guys!

THe 7-spoke SLK rims did not come with any lug nuts nor center caps. I don't care much for the center caps, as I can easily get them. My question is what lug nuts do I use. First off, is the lug nut thread/size on the 190E the same for the SLK lug nut thread/size? Can I use my original lug nuts from my 190E for the SLK rims? Or do I have to buy SLK lug nuts for these 7-spoke rims to put on my 190E? If I can use 190E lug nuts, I will most likely order new chrome ones from Performance. I need to know if these SLK rims specifically need SLK lug nuts. So my BIG question: Do I order 190E lug nuts or SLK 7-spoke lug nuts?

btw:
car is 1990 190E 2.6 with 205/60/15 rims
soon to have 7-spoke SLK rims (please see other post by frosty for tire size recommendations) my car has no fender flaring, and I NEED to know what tire size is best to prevent rubbing!

Thanks.

i would test your existing lug "bolts" to see if they can be used with the new wheels.

your bolts probably have a "rounded" seat where they contact the wheel. look to see if the new wheel is "dished" similar to the old wheel. if so, it is at least the right "type" of bolt.

next, test your bolt on the old wheel to determine how many "turns" of engagement it has before it seats. then test the same bolt with the new wheel to ensure you get a similar engagement. you dont want a bolt that doesnt allow proper engagement if the new wheels have a thicker seat.

you bolts probably are 12mm. make sure your new wheels are not drilled for 14mm bolts as used on many of the newer wheels and bigger MBs.

if they fit OK, you would then know the proper size to order if you want to purchase new bolts. i think the only 2 dimensions are the diameter (either 12 or 14) and the lenght.

hope that helps.

SLK RIMS

I put the seven spoke rims on with the stock 190E lugs. They look fine in the front but they sit inward in the rear about 1/2 inch or so. With the cost of new lugs 6 to 8 dollars each, I did not bother to get new ones.
