Actually, Shanta...I've bought many things off ebay.de by sending cash in a registered letter...but I don't know about the more expensive purchases in this case i.e. big dollar rims...mine purchases were usually under $100 US.

You know Murphy's Law?...when you finally decide and get a set of rims...the ones you really wanted will pop up at a sweet price.

I bought a set of 7.5 x 17 silver polished EVO IIs from my local dealer for $248 a piece. We get a solid discount through the Mercedes-Benz Club of America. If you are set on the EVO IIs I would take a trip to your local dealer and see what they can do for you. After buying the wheels, new lug nuts, caps, and a wheel lock kit, the total was $1164 after taxes (6% in CT).

For the most part, Bekkers is a major rip off, I wouldn't consider buying anything from them. I have called them a few times and the guys that I talked to were less than helpful. They wanted to either sell me something I didn't want right away or get me off the phone. I also saw them selling an EVO II wheel on clearance for $50 because the center hole was not milled to the correct size and it wouldn't hold a MB cap. That made me wonder how authentic these parts can be. I mean how does Mercedes (or BBS) whoever manufactuers the wheel not mill the hole to the right specs? Their prices are constantly rising, I would look elsewhere before I sprung on any "deal" from Bekkers. Check your parts dealer first.

Had to revive this thread!

Can anyone post the part numbers for the EVOII 500E Polished Wheels?

I'm curious if Phil can get them at a better price but I need the part numbers. Looking at size 17" x 8.25" with a polished finish.

Thanks everyone.

Thank You Dean.

Well it didn't come up on the Partsshop search engine so I guess I'm going to have to call Phil on Monday.

Afshin:

I took a look at my order/invoice from the MBZ dealer ...
as Dean stated:

P/N B6-6-47-0084 List $399.00 Net $320.00 = $1280.00

The wheel bolts I had to purchase is

P/N 203-401-02-70 Net $7.20 x 20 = $144.00

Labor to Mount and Balance = $81.60

Valve Stems - Net $0.90 x 4 = $3.60

Wheel Weights - $13.60

-------------------------------------------
Total = $1522.80

Add $160 to $200 for each tire ... $640 to $800

-------------------------------------------

Grand Total = $2200 - $2350

BTW ... they didn't charge me for the disposal of the old tires.

BTW again ... the back side of the wheels have the following P/Ns:

(MBZ) 124 401 17 02
8 1/4 J x 17 H2 ET34

(Speed Line) SL 583/A
Made in Italy

BTW once again ... the price for the ML 18" x 9" ET52 Izar P/N B6 647 16 41 (EVO II) was quoted to me as $487.20 each. Just a thought. You and I have discussed this before ... it's just a matter of time (when I sell the 190, you know what I'm going to do )

Thanks Norm,

That will really help me when the local tire shop quotes me a price.

Can you tell me how they balanced your tires? Did they use the Hunter 9700 Road Force? The local tire shop charges $13/Wheel to do this plus mounting.

Another Question.......

Does anyone know the weight of the 8 Hole Wheels that are stock on the car. Are these wheels really forged?

The next question is what is the weight of the EVO II with 245 tires. I want to know if there is a significant weight gain or not. Are the EVO II Magnesium Alloys or just standard alloys?

I have to assume since MB orginally installed these on the E500 Limited they should perform better than the stock 8 Hole but just want to make sure.

Thanks again everyone.

Angry Son of a Bee-autch!

Afshin:

I'll take out one of the 8-holes from the box and weight it for you ... stay tuned.

And you know, in a week I'll even have the weight of one of the EVO II wheels for you ... how you ask? Well, this evening I ran over a section (broken piece) of a concrete brick that was in the road and guess what happened? Yes, I got to use my OE jack and boy, those German engineers did a nice job engineering that jack. I had my virgin Pirelli P600 spare on the car within 15 minutes. No apperent damage to the EVO II wheel but the tire is morte ... cut right through the side wall. I was (still am) very pissed off! I'm going to contact Tirerack to investigate any warranty claims. Son of a Bee-autch!

Oh, and about the balancing, I don't know the name of the machine that the MBZ dealer used; when I get my tire replaced, I'll ask. I am using lead-tape weights on the EVO II wheels.

That sucks.

Did the brick cause the tire to get pinched? At least all else is ok and luckily it's only the tire that was damaged.

Thanks for checking the weights.

Just a heads up, the Hunter 9700 Road Force is the best way to balance a tire. They actually match the tire to the wheel to insure everything is completely balanced. Do a quick search on google and you'll understand what I mean.

Good Luck with the tire warranty.

EvoIIs weigh about 24 lbs each...street tires weigh usually between 20-25 lbs.

fad / Jim,

Thanks for posting those weights. Looks to me like the wheels are nearly equivalent however you get a bit more tread area with the EVO II's.

Dean,

Quick question about the wheel bolts that you listed the part numbers for.

Are these bolts chromed or polished or are they the Zinc plated (blueish tint) type?

BTW everyone, I really appreciate your help, I've decided to get these wheels instead of the forged wheels so stay tuned.
