I am looking to purchases a pair of 16x7.5
AMG Monoblock replicas, either chrome or silver with the polished lip for my 1986 300E. Can anyone advise me on how much I am looking at cost wise? Or would I be better off buying 17's. I no longer trust e-bay. I've been burned twice there on much smaller purchases..

I got a set of chrome Lorinzers RS-90 in that size.
They are not new and got some corrosion going on the inside lip. I live in Brooklyn
so if you are intrested, you can take a look at them. 600$

Rich,

If your planning on getting Monoblocks, go for the 17's. Everyone on the forum states that they are a good fit, and look nice. I've seen them myself on some 124's--looks real sharp/sporty. Im actually looking to get into Monoblocks myself, but it doesnt fit into my budget anytime soon. A good fit would 215/45/17's with the Monoblocks. Check out Bekkers, they carry the Monoblocks for cheap...

Good Luck...

Do NOT use 17s on a W124. They suck. Only way it works (okay - and even then 16s are still better) is if you use the right tire size, which is 225/45/17, which requires a fender roll. 215/45/17 is simply too small. Don't do it. Email me if you want specifics. Do a 16 in 205/55/16.

IMHO, I would not put the 17 inch on the W214, especially if it is a daily driver in NYC. Only go 17 if you also upgrade the entire suspension to the Sportline specs. Do a safer plus-one upgrade to 16 inch. That 215/45/17 tire does not have enough sidewall. I have 235/45-17 and bent the rims on potholes and it set me back $800 for repair. My local (Wash DC) performance shop sell the 16 inch replicas for $169. Try: www.statusimports.homestead.com
