Alignment

I'm looking for a good and cheap alignment place in the West Atlanta, Georgia metro area for my 1985 300TD

Dave,

What is your need for alignment based on? Tire wear, handling characteristics?

Have a great day,

The inside of my left front tire is wearing. Also I have to turn the steering wheel slightly to the left to go straight.

Are you sure it is only the inside of the left front, or is the right front wearing on the inside too?

With it pulling to one side, I expect that it is ONLY the left front wearing on the inside. IF this is the case, you do indeed need to find a GOOD front end man. If both tires are wearing on the inside, you only need the toe set properly which is not a big deal.

You need to be aware that there are shops all over whatever city you live in that have front end alignment equipment. That does NOT, however, mean that there are front end men all over your city. Possession of front end alignment equipment is not the only requirement for being a qualified front end man. Many shops have this equipment so that they can roll your perfectly aligned car onto it and then charge you $60 or so on the bill.

Don't get me wrong, there are some very competent shops out there, the problem is finding them. One tip I might offer in your evaluation is to explain your problem to the front end man and see if he wants to drive the car first. A good, knowledgable front end man will want to drive the car first to see what's up with it, then he will put it on the machine and look it over.

Finding a good front end man is probably more difficult than finding a good dentist.

Best of luck,

Yep I've used Butler Tire several times. They are good but they aren't cheap either.
