300cd wheels

I did a cursory search on this topic and found nothing so let me look for help here.

Car is a 1983 300CD. Presently has stock bundts. I would like to upgrade to a 15" or no larger than 16" wheel mainly for availability of tires and also for a better selection of wheels.

My wheel of choice would be an Enkei/BBS/Ronal or the like mesh type. I have seen such wheels on the coupe and like them a lot.

I think I will need some sort of adaptor (spacer?). My questions are:
1. Can such an adaptor/spacer be fitted without advers effecting clearances and handling dynamics?

2. Does Tire Rack offer such wheels and can they advise regarding what I need.

If you get the 15" rims with 5x112 / 7x15 ET23 or 16" 5x112 / 7-8x16 ET11, you need not have to put spacers.

You should be able to get a 15" wheel that'll work without a spacer.

I think stock offset was 30mm. A bigger/wider tire would need LESS offset to keep the tire from moving too far inboard and rubbing the arm on the steering knuckle or possibly on a different component, so benzmizer's 23 mm is probably a good recommendation.

A very good calculator that spits out all the effects is here: Tire/Wheel Combination Calculator

Tire Rack probably has a product that'll fit. There's also a forum member that's affiliated w/ tire rack.

I am thinking of getting one, and I assume they are better than the 300 sedans, but not as good as the 240's
