I'm considering buying a 2007 or 2008 E350. The rear wheels are 1/2" wider than the front wheels on cars equipped with the sport package. I'm assuming that this precludes traditional tire rotations. Has anyone experienced annoying tire noise with these cars after 30,000 miles or so?

Yes. 30,000 miles out of the OE Michelin' Pilots or whatever is probably the max service life. They got really loud on my w203 when worn to the wear marks.
