Question Lugnuts

I have some 7.5 X 16 TSW W-8 (OEM 8 Hole Replicas). The lugnuts that came with them are severely oxidized and are dark grey dull finish now. I wrote TSW and they told me it does that over time and I can buy new ones for $1.50 a piece. But why would I want to do that again in a couple of years? My car, and the wheels get a meticulous washing every week. Everything else looks new except for the lugnuts.

Questions: Has anyone had this type of problem and is there a good way to clean them? Does anyone know where I can get some good lugnuts that will fit my wheels (maybe even chrome) that will not discolor over time? The other option I have is to get some lugnut covers and cover them up.

Try Mothers aluminum polish. At least that will remove the oxidation and give it somewhat of a protective coating.

I had mine powder-coated along with the wheels. Nuts were less than a dollar apiece. The wheels cost $45 to do.

I would go with the powdercoating, although companies like McGard makes a whole array of nuts that would work for your car.

Something to consider (from experience) is even the nicest lug nuts have to suffer the abuse of tire irons and air impact wrenches. That's a lot of punishment for a lug nut.

My ML has chrome wheels, and I opted for the lug nut covers. They look great, and when I need to remove the wheels, I have a tool to remove the covers, and then I can bang away at the nuts (boy, THAT sounded strange, didn't it)?
