I've got a 300D Turbo here, that has worn out its Michelin X-Radials, stock size, all seasons. They're not good performers but quiet on the road. I'd like some better tires and have been looking at summer tires, which would be ideal here since it doesn't get below 40 degrees that often (and when it does, not for very long, and certainly not when im driving around). I think summer tires would be good for handling.
I also might get the W126L style flat-face 15" rims off of tirerack in addition to the tires...I think 15" would be good for a W123. If i do upsize the rim I'll go with 205/60 size tire. If I don't upsize the rim, I think I will try to lower the sidewall a bit. Car doesn't ride well in the first place, I don't see how a 60 series tire would be any worse. Has anyone tried a 195/60/14 tire? Im not too worried if the speedo is off by 5%.
Has anyone used summer tires on a W123 and have any input?
