Recommended +2 set-up from Tirerack

For the W124, 17" x 7.5" ET35 with 215/45/17 tires is the recommended +2 set-up from Tirerack. I think you should be OK, although every car is a little different. A higher offset would give you better clearance at the outside fender lip, so you might be able to fit 225/45/17 with ET42. On the other hand, some guys seem to get away with even wider wheels and tires with lower offsets, so I think it should be OK. I have 205/55/16 tires on 16" x 7.5" ET37 wheels and they don't rub. Your tires are only 5mm wider on each side and the offset is only 2mm closer to the fender. That places your tires 7mm wider than mine. I have to admit that it would be very close for my 1995 E320 with Eibach springs and Bilstein HD shocks with 1-bump front pads and 3-bump rear pads. As I said, every car is a little different.

I think it might be like always going back to that same bad relationship with an ex girlfriend.
You feel you love them too much, or you are just too stupid to know any better.
