SL 320's are much rarer since production ended in 97 i think. with that said, i own one and even if its not the quickest, im proud of it

besides i dont think a huge engine would fare well in rush hour trafiic..no offence just speaking from experience

Sleeper, I thought you have a 300 and not a 320. It is a good point about the production ended in '97 for the 320 when the SLK came into the market. Mine is a 320 and I love it. I always want a 600 though.

mySL, where about are you in Maryland?

Yeah, but the 600 is not too far behind in years. It started in 93 (I believe), so its run is 9 years as opposed to 7 for the 320.

I'm in Chevy Chase. I got my SL600 for a song. I got it for $25k, which is Kelly Blue Book price. NADA lists it for $35k. It has 82000 miles on it when I got it, but it runs perfect. To get it up to inspection (new tires, fix a few things, etc.) was no more $1200. You probably will ask where I got and you may say I was crazy for trying it, but I got it off of Ebay. It fact, there is one selling (98; $29k no reserve) from Gaithersburg right now (not the person I bought it from), if you want one local.

I was dreaming of a new SL when I bought it, but I figured I'd never be able to afford her, so I settled for the older sister.

Working out a natural progression on the years of your current SL's, you'll be buying a 2002 model!

You know that's a great idea! Should I tell my wife now or let it be a surprise?

I’m 41 and bought my first Mercedes for my 40th birthday. I have lusted after them since I was 18. I remember seeing by 2 favorite autos side-by-side at a hockey tournament, 1975 Datsun 280Z & 1978 Mercedes SL - both BLACK!!!

I bought my first Datsun in 1982 – a rare 280ZXR and still have it to date – For the $ very fast and handles like nothing I’ve ever seen. I was clocked on radar at 137 mph – ticket is framed!!!

I do love the Mercedes and when looking for one I focused on the Euro due to output power. This has proved to be a challenge though. I’m a dedicated DIY’er and the manual (CD – BTW – bad quality on photos and prints) only covers the US models. I’m learning the hard way – as I go…. LOVING every minute of it…

Hi MB lovers

48 now. purchased my 380SL when I was 30. At 40 I treated myself to a 95E320 Cabriolet. I get just as many stares and compliments on the SL as I do in the E cab. Both great fun cars.
Now that Spring has arrived, I look forward to the days that I wake up and say" What to drive today, the sporty SL or the classy
drop dead gorgeous E Cabriolet".Life is driving a Benz.
Hopefully I will make it to 50 and maybe I will treat myself to a nice CLK 500 Cabriolet. Happy driving.

Got my 1980 450sl at 58. I have owned an Austin Healy 3000, 1964 Maserati Sebring, and still have a 77 Vette. By far the Sl is the best.

55 on #3 Mercedes

I have owned a 190E, 560SEL, and currently own a 1995 SL500 with 18K miles. I may be going back to Porsches having owned 3 of them and am having "shifting withdrawal" with the SL500.

Age Survey

Was 29 when I acquired my first MB. My son was to be born in a few months and wanted a safe, family car. Wife got jewelry and I got a Benz. Now, 3 years later, we just added a 450 SL to the corral...making me 32 when I acquired my first SL.
