Question Whats a good selling price for a 1986 560SL???

Hi. How much should a MINT condition 1986 Mercedes 560SL sell for??? The "Champagne" exterior has no scratches/dents/dings/accedent history etc.... The dark brown interior is in mint condition also, no rips/tears/stains. Carpet is mint, dash isn't cracked, woodgrain is perfect. Everything works with no electrical problems at all. It has a brand new valve cover gasket. It has 145,000mi on the clock. Engine runs perfectly. Transmission shifts very smoothly too. It just got a brand new black soft top put on last week (same time as the valve cover gasket). It also has the factory hardtop, mint cond also.
How much money would this bring if I wanted to sell it???

Any input is appreciated.
BrittM

Using Ebay and Collectorcartraderonline for comparables, I would
say somewhere between $15K and $25K. It depends on the
support you have for your price. Do you have service records?
Has the timing chain been serviced? Do you have the hard top?
There is a 560sl for $31K that has very few miles and a complete
service record.
You didn't indicate where you are from, but your location may
factor into the price as well. Nebraska or Saskatchewan prices
will be lower than Hollywood or Miami prices, I would expect.
Good luck!

Im figuring close to $13k around here. It's fully loaded, except for the rear seat. I have the hardtop. The timing chain was serviced about 8months ago. Im in Atlanta GA. But then again, It could be more than $13k, because I recently purchased a 1988 300SEL for $1800, put a hood and a headlight on it and sold it for $5500-way more than I expected.

thanks for the input.

By looking at the classifieds in Southern California, 560 SL's are typically advertised for sale in the low to middle teens.

If your car is in the shape it is in, I wouldn't hesitate to price it in the high teens, maybe even $20k and see what happens.

In So Cal., I can't imagine it selling for less than $15k...
