Question 380 sl seat repair or replace?

Just bought a '81 380sl. The leather interior is flawless, but the driver's seat is broken down where your left rump cheek pivots to get in and out. I haven't taken the seat out yet, but from feeling underneath it, the pad seems to be okay, but there's a spring down which interferes with sliding the seat up and back. Has anyone ever had this and is it fixable or should I start looking for a new seat?

It's fixable, but the only method I know of is for each broken spring, cut a good spring from another seat. They can be clamped together.

seat

Take your seat out. It is about a 20 minute job and it will give you a chance to clean the track. Don't loose the 8 little white nylon slices that guide the seat in the black track. If in fact a seat spring is broken, any auto upholstery shop ought to have a spring to repair it.
