SS Freeflow exhaust for my 73 450sl

I just purchased a 1973 450sl and want to help the engine breath a little better as well as get that V8 throaty sound.

SO does anyone make a free flow exhaust for a 73 107?

I presently run a Tubi on my 328gts with test pipes and the sound is awesome.

THANKS list

Try removing the resonator before building/purchasing a new exhaust system. The sound is not quite a throaty V8 but more like a old Jag.

Thumbs up Not Stainless Steel, but . . .

Here's my exhaust plan:

The Series 50 Delta Flow is Flowmaster's most quiet muffler. If it's too quiet with the stock resonator left in place, I'll move the custom "Y" upstream to connect pipes #2 and #3 together, and replace the resonator with another length of 3" pipe.

I'm going for an early '70s "muscle car" sound. The rest of my project plan is detailed at:

Read it again . . . carefully . . . slowly . . .

You're right - there is no dual in, dual out 50. I'll be using a SINGLE 3" in with dual 2.5" outlets.

That's why I specified that I'd be replacing the dual pipes between the resonator and muffler with a SINGLE 3" PIPE (see illustration).

And that's why I noted that I'll need a "Y" fabricated to bring two pipes coming out of the resonator into one.

Even if a dual in, dual out 50 existed, it'd be cheaper to use a single pipe than two parallel pipes of smaller diameter.

DUH! Thanks reading skills are lacking today

Sounds like a great plan for exhaust. How far have you gotten with it?

no kidding??? My friend in singapore has a 328GTS with a Tubi exhaust, and it sounds AMAZING. I got a ride in it. I was impressed.

BTW, post up any power/noise differences please, because I was thinking of doing this to my 450SL.
