'72 350SL with red interior. What color to paint it?

I bought my '72 350SL which is currently a tomato red (terrible color IMO) and while she was originally ivory white (623) and I really don't like the look of white on these cars to be honest.

So, what color exterior looks best with the red interior, in your opinion?

I think white, silver, and anthracite would all like nice with a red interior.

Light Ivory and red is very nice IMO and would get my vote. Here's a picture of a former 113 of mine in that combination.

I admit, light ivory and red do look good together...just not for me.

Before starting the thread I had it pretty much between two colors. Any guesses as to what they were?

So I'm heavily leaning toward Silver (Astral 735) but my fear is I will "lose" all the chrome. But 735 is sooo Mercedes!

My other choice was Anthracite (172 or 173?) but I felt the color wasn't correct feeling for an early 70's model. Was Anthracite available in '72? The color just Feels more 560 than 350.

I think I will need to see 107s in each color in person to decide.

Quick side note that perhaps deserves it's own thread:

Now that I am in the process of restoring the old Merc I have run into this dilemma; she is a grey market car. Do I restore her to ROTW standards (euro headlights, remove & rewire turn signals, etc) or is there some value to her "grey marketness" and the story that goes along with it?

Anthracite came out in 1960.
You see it on pagodas and 108s, 111s etc.

If it is a 107.043 restore it original. North America never received the 107.043 350SL. I prefer the original design over the US modifications. The value won't be altered either way since it is a color change vehicle. My 2 cents.
