R129 chrome or gold logo
I have to put a new 300SL Logo on the rear deck of my 1991. It came from the dealer in chrome. However, the star in the middle of the deck lid is gold. Should the logo and the star match? Has anyone seen a 300SL logo in gold?

What color is the car? The regular chorme badges on my 1996 SL600 look awesome.
What color is the star in the grille? Is it gold or chrome?

Should be chrome, easy to replace. These cars are supposed to be understated elegance, they don't "need" and don't really look appealing with bling bling, tacky tacky.

Well I hate to say it but my car had gold badges when I bought it, but it looks pretty good with the desert sand metallic doesn't stand out to much. I am not a huge fan but I would have to change everything back. Now black with gold badges that is pimpin' Here is a pic of the guy I bought it from.

Thank you all for your comments. It seems that the chrome logo is correct regardless of the gold star. I have also searched all the 129 pictures on E-bay, and every 300 SL type badge I saw was chrome. So, chrome it is!

Nice choice. I think that when Mercedes designed the cars, they balenced the color very nicely. Thats why I love the look of my 1996 SL600. It is very classy in its stock form.
