HELP!! ! My Roof Top and Windows stopped working-->

Hello all,

I've owned my 1995 SL320 for 2 weeks now and suddenly one day my roof top won't go up and my windows are stuck open. The power window buttons don't do anything if I press up or down. The roof top and roll bar buttons are lit red(non blinking). If I press those nothing happens.

I've checked all my fuses and all seem good. Where can I begin diagnoising this problem. Please help....

thank you..

-Carlo

Double check those fuses! Also there are fuses in the boot too - can't remember their function but check them too..

I checked fuses...

I checked all the fuses with my probe meter. I checked the ones under the hood(drivers side) and in the trunk(passenger side). Nothing. I even disconnected the battery for 30 minutes in hopes it would reset. Nothing changed.

Which fuses are under boot? please let me know what I should check next.

thanks again!!

Open the boot (trunk) and look forward and you should see a small plastic flap, there are several fuses in there. They control the windows, the soft-top module and roll bar.

Sounds right up your street!

Lightbulb

Carlo,
I had this same problem last week. Did the battery go low? If the battery in these year SL's goes low, it puts a code in the computer that locks the hardtop control out, lighting the rollbar and hadtop button. The first thing to do is to open the storeage compartment behind the passenger seat, remove the contents and carefully pull up the floor. You will now see a large silver module, this is the SCM (softop control module) it is held in with 3 - 10mm bolts, remove them and lift the module straight up, NOT side to side. Reinstall after 10 seconds or more. Re assemble and try the top in the correct way as per the owners manual, parking brake set, both doors open, and the key in the on position car not running, operate the top by pulling the button back and it should work. If this did not reset the system, you will need to clear the codes put in the computer by the low battery. Any questions let me know. If the SL is not going to be a daily driver I would recommend a battery tender, this will only trickle charge the battery when the current level drops.

Tim
