Roll Call (Turbo M103 (2.6)) Fuel Enrichment
A turbo (single) project for my 190e 2.6 is what I am working on. Along the way of gathering info for this project, they key determinant for sucess seems to be fuel enrighment under boost.
Some have listed the megasquirt device (stand alone) as the way to go but I am not sure hence this thread. The question is: what kind of fuel enrightment device have you used, reliablely (sp) with turbo applications? Note that he 2.6 is/going to remain my daily driver hence reliability is key. The device has to be moderately easy to program w/resorces, and should not break the piggy. Hit me up with some guidance/feedback, please. Thanks. lata,

hey if you like the best and I know you do , you will like the

Who needs fuel enrichment for turbo? I would worry more about Ignition retard.

I am using the ELECTROMOTIVE TEC-III and it is great. The cost is about 3k all said and done.

What does a fuel enrightment device accually achieve?
is the M103 engine CIS or EFI? |

The Electromotive is a total engine management system. The idea is to remove the CIS injection. Though it is very dependable, the CIS doesn't really offer a whole lot of control when it comes to tuning. I ripped the CIS off my 928 because it would no longer support the fuel demands of my modifications. I would like to do the same with the SEC but I'm trying to see how much power the CIS will support. I would make more power and have a better driving and more efficient car if I went to the Electromotive system.

Thinking back to the first Porsche turbo, is seems to me they pretty much just bolted a turbo on the CIS engine and ran it. CIS is pretty good at dealing with added fuel demands up to a point. Only mod might have been a manifold presure line going to the warm-up regulator to up the fuel presure in step with the induction system presure (also seen on Volvo turbos). Seems to me the compression ratio might be a bit high on the 103 engine for anything more than light boost.

don't spend the money!
cis and cis-e has been used on many turbo cars 924t,930, Audi 5000t and I think the BMW 745ti and early Saab 900t also used it. CIS wants to run rich and with the warm up reg./ pressure reg from a audi or porche turbo in therory you could run intake preasures UP TO 25% of your fuel pressures that 15-20psi of boost with your system. Checkout www.shoptalkforums.com they have a great turbo forum, these guys are building low bugget turbo systems for there VW's using cis injection. |
