Lexus vs Mercedes
Has anybody raced a Lexus 300is with a 300e?There is one that has been tempting me, but I want to make sure I can give him a good run or should I expect a good spanking?
Thanks Ticobenz. |

Depends what year your car is and which engine you have. IS300s have decent pep off the line, but definitely fade at higher speeds.

Um, maybe I'm the only one to say this, but I think its safe enough to say that you'll get a little spanking. Maybe not too bad but I would expect for you to be beaten by a good few car lengths. I raced my friends 2000 Eclipse GT which is a few hairs slower than an IS300 and he beat me by about a length a a half but he got a bad launch.
My co-worker has an IS300 and I think I may challenge him to a race for fun. I'll let you know how a pretty much bone stock '86 300E does.

oh by the way, I don't think an IS300 and an older 300E is a great comparison just because of year and techincal deifferences. the lexus obviously has the upper hand.... now say you compare a lexus 300 of the same year and you've got yourself a whole new story

I agree, but for a 16 year old car it still gets some respect, because I have raced aginst my best friends 86 300 E my father in laws 87 300e and beat them by a lot 'bout 2.5 car lenghts and I also raced against a 190e with a 300e engine and a five speed, we were dead even through out the drag, considering the weight difference and the fact that he had a five speed I think it is fair to say that my car is faster than it should be.
Any way, keep those opinions and coments coming. PEACE TICOBENZ |
