Proper "Offset" for 500E Wheels

I'd like to replace my stock wheels with some aftermarket ones. Does anybody know what I need to consider reg. off-set...?
Someone told me that wheels from the '91-00 SL with a 35mm offset will fit the 500E...
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.
