So True! I have one of my Grand Fathers (Railroad) Pocket watches from the late 1800s..They DO in fact keep better time than my Rolex...Go Figure

This just arrived at my house today!

From IWC, the only watch manufactory in German region of Switzerland. Successor to the legendary Mk XI Pilot's watch, this Fliegerchronograph model 3741 has a soft-iron inner case to protect against magnetism and has the Jager-LeCoultre designed mecha-quartz movement - a fully mechanical chronograph (233 seperate parts) powered by two quartz motors....the best of both worlds!

Congratulations Dean !

That is a wonderful IWC to include in your collection. It is a Christmas gift ?

Holidays are coming and they are always a perfect excuse to give yourself another watch as a present.

Next time you plan to buy yourself another watch, let me know and I could probably get you a good deal.

Can't wait to get the present I made to myself for Christmas

Dean- I've been eyeing an IWC chronograph, heck almost any chronograph, esp. vintage Heurer ones, like the original Monaco.

However, everytime I'm ready to get one, I know I just won't use the function.

Glad you got one.

Watches and cars...oh man.....here goes....

OK, I not only am a fanatic about German cars, I am obsessed with swiss watches. I like to cruise through the Rolex forum at TimeZone.com and gather insight on my next purchase. As far as cars go right now, I own a 1985 Audi 4000s quattro. I'm probably going to sell it and get a 400e once I get to where I get to after BCT and all. I also own a 1996 Ford Ranger SuperCab 2WD 4.0 V6 auto (man, that's a mouthful!). LOVE my trucky, although it has had its fair share of gremlins. It's in the body shop right now gettin' fixed from a little run in with a driver that didn't know how to turn their lights on after dark.
On the subject of watches, I own several Seikos, including a SS/18k Perpetual Calendar and a World Timer. My daily watch is a Tag Hauer Formula 1 chrono. I didn't really think that much when I first got it, but now I LOVE it. I'm also looking at a Rolex Stainless Submariner with a black dial here pretty soon. Just gotta find the right deal on it though- I truly think they are over priced, but that's what the market will bear, so be it. I've wanted a Sub forever, and now looking back I should have bought one 10 years ago when they were under 3 grand. Rolex's price increases have been crazy....

I currently have a 1990 190E 3.2-24v with a turbo kit intercooled in the works. I have many modification done to the car, you can check it out at www.RolexBenz190E.cjb.net and other various things. Now about my watches... I own a 2003 "Y" serial Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date-Just, the model is a Yachtmaster SS/Platinum. I had also purchased a Rolex Submariner SS/Black face & dail in 2001, but it was stolen. I do enjoy my Yachtmaster a lot and I surely am looking forward to passing it down to many generations of immediate family. Out of these watches, the saphire had never been scratched. I just turned 19 and when I was a senior in high school I had my Submariner Rolex. My student teacher always gave me funny looks and finally I asked her why she looked at me all the time. And she said "Well, I notice that you have a Rolex, but I think it's fake." I said "What makes you think that?" and she replied "You are in high school, no one wears watches like that here, may I look at it?" I gave her the watch to look at under my supervision. "This crystal is supposed to basicaly be impossible to scratch or brake huh?" and I said yes. She then turned around so I didn't have my watch in eyes site. She turned back around and said "Yep, fake!" and I looked at my watch which was in her left hand and then look to her right hand to see a 1 ct diamond engagment ring. "See, my ring scratched it." I stood there in disbeliefe. I can't believe she did that!! "DIAMOND CUTS THROUGH EVERYTHING!" I exclaimed. I was trully distrot about the situation, I told her she'd have to pay for it. But before I could get an estimate my watch was stolen. So I purchased this Rolex Yachtmaster, it ran me a good $6,780.30 but it is all worth it. The quality is comparable to nothing and the look of the sport watch is beautiful. I look at it's brilliance everyday and never get tired of it. I let OmegaBenz wear it a couple time and he said that people turned their heads everywhere he went. So this concludes my post. These watches are magnificent, I wouldn't have them any other way! And yes, I pay for everything my self and no, my parents don't pay for anything of mine, lol. I get a lot of that.

That took alot of, uh, can I say "balls" and not get in trouble? MAN scratching the crystal of a watch to determine if it's a fake or not? WHO CARES, either way, even if it WAS a fake she just damaged someone elses property. But you're right, a diamond is gonna scratch about anything a company could use, including sapphire. Lesson learned I guess, never let it out of your sight.
I don't think I coulda helped myself, I woulda thumped her right there.

I kinda did a bad thing after that... I had a picture of her and I photo edited her face into a pornographic photo of a ladie and a dog and I put her face on the ladie. I also consored it in case I got caught. But I had it printed and color copied about 200 times and I posted them all over the school's campus. High school drama though, I'm glad I'm out of it. The watch was real though, I asked an authoriezed Rolex dealer what it would cost to replace the sapphire and they said it would be around $1,000.

That lady did WHAT!?!

Oh MAN!!! What an IDIOT!!!! I am not sure what I would have done, probably gone to her boss (the principal or superintendent) and made her pay for the damages. I hate that it got stolen, though. That's a shame. I had a buddy of mine lose a Tudor Submariner by laying it and this other FAKE Pres on a table at a bar while he and and another co-worker were playing pool. I was like you did WHAT? My watches only come off when I have to clean them or change watches.
I will say this about the SS Yachtmaster- VERY nice watch. I fell in love with them when they first came out, but I'm back to the sub now.

Ya I really didn't know what to do at first and I didn't think jeopordizing her job would be enough to satisfy my needs for revenge, so I choose public humiliation. But my Submariner was stolen out of my gym locker while I was in gym, and yes I did lock it. It's amazing what people will go through to get something. Maybe I was dumb enough to store my watch somewhere unsupervised and risky. But I'm being extra careful with the Yachtmaster, and I as well fell in love with it when the ss/Platinum Yachtmaster was in production, it is an amazing watch! It matches me when I'm driving my car very well (though I think it matches my friend better in his silver C36). My Friend with the C36 also had his watch stolen. He had an Omega Seamaster dress watch, I was there when he bought it and I was Jealous. He bought it before I even had a car or any watches (infact I had a casio digital watch that the batteries ran out on it)! He is about two years younger then me. Some people you know, want things for free, I hate it how it has to be like that. Like some people get a kick out of beating some one up or scratching $4,200 Rolex's with their 1ct diamond engegment ring, it's sad!

Very interesting watch, I don't think that too many people know about the Fortis brand, although it is also quite good from numerous aspects.

A big one

Ernst Benz automatic - 51mm diameter, and quite heavy. Solid and sturdy feeling.
