Lightbulb EVERYONE!!! pls LOOK! & feel free to POST! POST! POST!

I don't know if this thread has been previously posted and I would have no real clue as to how to search it (if anyone has a link to a previous thread, pls let me know)...recently, I've been looking for a "hard to find" part and I thought, not only would it benefit me to have a list of good (fast loading, good content, MBZ only, non-ricer, non blue-tint light bulb b.s., etc.) parts and accessories sources at the stroke of a simple key or two, it might benefit everyone else here also...my other reason for posting - I'm looking for a "rear deck lid insert" for my '90 300E...I think the part came out in '92 ('93?) and it covered the area on the lower trunk panel between the taillights (solid insert panel, not the red/amber "deco" taillight extension) where the license plate attaches and gives the "updated" look...I have easy access to US insert panel @local MBZ dealer, but I'm looking for the "Euro" panel (cleaner, leaner look IMHO) that they can't get (US parts only)... US panel has this look \__\__/__/ ...Euro panel has this look \_\____/_/ ---(wider opening to accomodate longer Euro plate)...I found the Euro insert through a previous link posted here, but $hipping from Austrailia was more expen$ive than the part itself!!!...I saw the Euro panel on Ebay a few months ago, but "got drunk and missed it"...any and all help in locationg a source for this part and any other future parts and/or accessories would be appreciated...overseas websites with access to "Euro only" parts are VERY welcome...thanks for reading and please POST!, Bill

Hey, DownUnder Mike, I'm just curious about your right hand drive driver's mirrors for the W201 190, which would also be the same for the mid 80's to 90's W124's. I know they won't be motorized, but they would balance out the look of stock mirrors.

If you come across a decent one, let me know. Honolulu is just a bit north!

what he is looking for is the body color trunk insert panel for the trunk lid found on 1990 - 1993 W124 coupes and sedans.

it makes the area around the license plate flush with the tail lights, and not inset like ont he pre 1990 w124 cars.

Mike, this may help...

click on the link below to see the panel I'm talking about...scroll to the bottom of the page and notice the 300E pictured...it's the panel that extends between the taillights... http://www.statusimports.homestead.com/supersprintmbz.html The "opening" for the license plate is much wider than the U.S. version...If anyone else can help, please feel free to chime in...thanks in advance, Bill

Thanks Alon...

Obviously, Alon's posted pic is much easier to access...to further clarify, it is the "solid" panel at the top of the picture...thanks again Alon, your courtesy is appreciated...BTW, Alon's posted pic was sent to me by a very helpful guy named Glenn at www.carshine.com.au, but unfortunately, the part along w/shipping just wasn't cost effective. Additionally...

If anyone else is interested in this panel from Carshine, before you contact Glenn, know that the panel w/shipping (to NC, USA) is $277.97 at current conversion rates - and that doesn't include painting and/or mounting the panel...so, like I said previously - not cost effective (for me anyway) as the U.S. version is $140...I decided to add this post so as not to unduly "burden" Glenn, as he was very helpful to me in packing, weighing and contacting freight company$ - all for naught...BTW, I am in no way connected to Carshine, I just wanted to help someone who went out of his way to help me...Bill

Thumbs up Solving the worlds problems

MTI - Sure buddy i'll keep my eyes open for what you want, i'm sure if you want it i can find it for you. its only a matter of going to speak to the local wreckers, my mate is a mechanic so i should be able to get him to get the part at trade prices. so if you do want it tell me and i'll look it up. just confirm what it is you want exactly i don't want to stuff it up.
If this works for you, and if its cool with you i might try to do the same and get the opposite mirrors off you.

Bill - I know the part you want i have a few friend in the smash repairs industry and the body kits industry i'll see what they can turn out for me. i should hopefully be able to get you a better price on parts and on Post and handling. pity i didn't know about it about 2 weeks ago my dad just few to Washington DC on sat, he could have taken the parts. anyway not to worry. i might be able to pull something together with the people i work with a few of them travel overseas. tell me your budget limit so i know what parameters to work with in.

Alon/Ashman - thanks for posting that photo thats what i thought it was but i wasn't completely sure.

have a good one till next time - goodnight.

Mike...

thanks for your offer to assist...naturally, I'd like to stay as low as possible on price, but I am somewhat flexible...I don't want to take advantage of your generosity (or be a pain in the a**) by asking you to spend too much time trying to help me out but, if you do find a used part, I'd like it to be "as new" or very close (no scratches, cracks in fiberglass, etc.)...if you come up w/a new panel, that would be great also...I know that I haven't really answered your question regarding my price range, I guess it just really depends on what you find...I have a contact at a local MBZ dealer who tells me he will hook me up on U.S. panel for $105 +tax ($140 retail), but as I previously stated, I like the Euro look better...if I'm not asking too much, please keep me posted on any progress you may have and prices you're quoted...it never ceases to amaze and delight me that members of this Forum are willing to go so far out of their way to assist fellow members and I sincerely thank everyone that has helped...Bill
