Well, the original post is true.

1. A late model Civic Si V-tec is quicker than an old 300E. Okay. If it matters to you (and it does to some...) then go for it.

2. Most young women that date you for your car will be more impressed by a new sporty car than an aging luxury car with four doors. Depends on your "company" priorities.

3. A Civic is more readily modified. Again, if that's important to you, don't buy an old MB, buy a Honda.

I'm not sure why you bought the 300E in the first place. But don't despair, MB ownership wasn't for me when I was 18 or 20 either. I liked to go fast and hot-rod my cars, and never considered a Mercedes. As my life changed and my needs and desires did as well, a Mercedes made sense. I wanted a car that was still fun, but could haul my family and my stuff. It had to have four doors for easy access. And so on.

Hopefully the "new" owner of your 300E will enjoy it more than you did.

Bobby,
I am sure your Honda is a nice car. I owned many Hondas before I went "German". But to bash other peoples' vehicle and taste is not a nice thing to do. We, on this board, are car enthusiasts. It just happens we like the three pointed stars, while you, prefer a Honda. But we all share one thing --- we love cars!!

As you may have already known, most of us here don't care much about the .1 second faster to the next red light, or how much bhp you can squeeze out of modifying your engine. We do enjoy exchanging information on how to work on our cars. You should respect that. If you want to provoke a German vs Japanese, you should go check out other sites. I am sure you will find plenty of company. But if you want to know how to fix your car up, you are with good company here.

As for your car, it does look nice. I am not sure about the smoke out wheels that you tried. The chrome is a better fit.

yay for rice! Way to go bobby, if you didn't like your benz, you should have sold it ASAP. I like the look of your Si, and I agree, those things are a blast to drive. Of course, you can't run at 120 all day like you could in the benz, and you can no longer floss, but you can safely have spikey hair (I wish I had spikey hair). But you shouldn't discount the good ole 300. I have a 92, and its far from a piece. I have actual wood in my car, and real leather. Dropped and with 18s, it looks incredibly sweet. I gotta say, everybody at school knows and likes my car. And I go to Westlake, one of the richest (and snobish :-( ) schools in Texas. Trust me, I have one of the oldest and least expensive cars on the lot, yet the classic lines of the benz win out over even the new lines of my friend's clk 320, e430, c320, and slk, not to mention the tahoes and firebirds and m3s. All the chicks dig the ride, and at the end of the day, there is always a group of people hanging around wanting to listen to the system and floss. It would seem like the other other band kids drive the civics (no offense, the only SI is electric blue, and driven by a really cool asian with spikey hair.... hehe... he even has a calander of his car with chicks.... everbody loves that)

and there must be something wrong with all of you guys 300s, I mean, they are slow, but they aren't that slow!! Unless you guys race for like 20 feet, si's and integras are german bate over 60. I should know, ive raced many of them and im always ahead past 100, all they way to my aero-brick limited 140....

a sports car is an sl 55, cl 55, c 36....

read all the major trades...civics, integras, and the like are all quoted as being "sporty".....

and furthermore...booby300E, rice troll, or whatever your posting name is.....

i own both a 300 and an integra (fully modified, non-vtec that smokes vettes off the line), yet i still drive the 300...but of course i have refined tastes, as do all mercedes owners....you don't buy these cars to drag with (unless you can afford the amg's), you buy these cars to pamper yourself with....like a rolling bubble bath.....

another thing.....

your civic coupe will never ever ever compare to my coupe....
i dont' care if it's newer, blah blah blah...my coupe does 0-60 in 7.1 an it's a 1992, not only that, i'll smoke you on the highway faster than you can think about 120 mph.... the difference between you and i driving side by side is....your car will be driving at a pushed peak with a youthful driver, and i'll be driving in comfort, style and plush luxury.....

sorry charly....

Just for "Booby's" info, my 86 420 sel rags on si's and integras all freakin day. Maybe you should have learned how to DRIVE your merc.

Anyways, I feel a little to young in my car (I'm 19) so I am in the process of buying a "real" sports car. 1997 BMW 328is. That will kill your Si too.

Hey, Badinfo, this is really weird. You said you live/goto Westlake in Texas? WEll, I live in a city called Westlake in California with an equally snobby high school called westlake high school. Weird...

Just wanted to say that I'm a young Asian guy with spiky hair that prefers German automobiles.

And there's nothing wrong with a Civic Si. But comparing it with a 300E is silly. They have completely different purposes, and if one appeals to you, the other most likely does not.

I liked that body Civic Si, BTW. Good looking car, tastefully fixed up. I remember smoking a red one when I first got my CLK320 a few years back. I haven't raced one in my new car, but I'd love to give you a run, just for ****s and giggles.

Also, if you need your car to get chicks, that's very sad.

Well, this thread is peachy. "Dude, your Civic is trash." "Dude, MB's are no good for chicks."

Cripes.

This guy bought a 300E, which he shouldn't have. He didn't like it. So he sold it and bought something he likes. Okay, don't start a thread slamming MB's for not being a Honda. But, is flaming him productive?

Just for "Booby's" info, my 86 420 sel rags on si's and integras all freakin day. Maybe you should have learned how to DRIVE your merc.

Your comparing 0-60 times of a 15 year old car compared to a 1999 model? I think that rice burning jap crap fits you perfectly.

Im sorry but civics are not as nice as you think they are. If you wanted a newer car you should have went with a c class. Check back with us after you have put 100K miles on it, and let us know if you still think its a frickin race car. BTW...wanna race?
