Bosch ME 2.1 coding software?
Has anyone here used Bosch ME 2.1 coding software? ( 97 SL320 M104 straight 6, also on the SLK , similar E320 C class ) What brand are you using?
It is looking like anything from V10 and above Carsoft does not work properly nor do they provide proper support. At minimum I'd like to be able to clone a ECM as a spare and have it work with my DAS X immo. The upper limit would be tuning / sending the file to a tuner and having them alter it. Running a 3.2 L engine with a long stroke crank ( 3.5 / 3.6 L and not having the OBD2 system complain. Thanks |

I don't know the specifics about the build but if I were going to swap a 3.2 for a 3.6 without any additional mods I'd just scale the fuel supply to match.
3.6 / 3.2 = 1.125 4 bar X 1.125 = 4.5 bar I'd bet money that a stock 3.2L management could run a 3.6L engine within acceptable parameters with an additional ~1/2 bar fuel pressure. The ECM adaptations would handle any small discrepancies and allow you a window to see if a few more or less PSI of fuel pressure would be appropriate.

any additional horsepower with long crank?I reead this but don't understand"by offset grinding, you can increase stroke
2nd are you guys increasing compression or just adding cubic inches? 3rd forgive me if I inerruptted,I'm famous for that.

96 M104 only was HFM with a OBD2 translator box, I'm still trying to find part numbers for this box. Based on the wiring diagram it looks to be a complete monitoring system rather than just a converter box. The other issue on mine ( ME 2.1 ) is that the trans computer ( 722.6 ) might still be seeing a lower torque input and not bump line pressure. Rather than take a risk on my 97, the build will be taking place on my to be track day only 91 as it only gets a tail pipe test where the 97 OBD2 plug in. If the OBD2 does not cry too much, I'll end up swapping the motor to the 97. The 97 is nice enough that I don't want to directly mod it. ############ The long crank is from the 3.6 AMG, it should give more torque down low which is what I'm looking for. |

u should be able to run the engine on the old ecu. i know of a guy running his 43 with a 55 engine without changing the ecu. the car was slow for a coulpe of days then it adjusted and now runs really well.

I am pretty sure you will have no problems. You will need a ME 3.6 also or swap all the specific parts to make it work though. They use the same injectors and I think the air mass sensor is the same. The only thing is possibly on the part load upper adaptations on the fuel trim. Which a rising rate pressure regulator would take care of. Or just put a slightly higher bosch one in for the stock location if it is a problem.
