thoughts on w126 body kit, give your 2 cents

Guys I was contemplating the body kit that I will show below. It's $1500 and looks all right, does anyone have any experience with these kits and how the final product looks.

It is completely made out of duraflex(flexible fiberglass) and includes no mounting points on the bumpers or skirts, you have to get the OEM body panel mounts and install them on these pieces. Thats a widebody and it comes with duraflex wide body panels that must to molded into the body. I think its more trouble than its worth and an AMG or non-widebody replica kit would be much easier.

Kit looks like a wannabe Gemballa...

Lot of work, look for an AMG or Wald ( replica is fine ) kit that will bolt on.

It's a period car built by Gemballa...this was offered for sale earlier in the year.
Gemballa is a tuner that did work on many exotics and still does...

The SEC also had a major power increase.
Note the custom interior, especially the dash.
This was a very, very, expensive car when built in the eighties !!

That is really astounding! Thanks for the additional pictures. I had never heard of Gemballa before this.

You are correct....
Pix I posted are ones he sent me before he listed it on EBAY.

I was tempted, but I favor the 124 chassis.

He does come up with some amazing cars !

It only looks good aslong as you get some wide, low offset wheels to fill the wheel wells, omg it looks bad with normal wheels tho.

And please, please if your going to get that wide body tell me your going to do some work on the engine first to make it powerful enough to suit the body.

P.S Side exhaustsssssss Drooooollllllll

Not a body guy

I was wondering how the Hell they mounted those bumpers because it doesn't look like they have any hardware with them or drilled holes? Is duraflex cheap quality and where can you buy a better kit. Maybe I should leave my car alone?
I just want a damn spoiler for my Euro bumper!!!

That car rock

I would take that over a Porche or MB from this era... except the Maclearn SLR. Look at it, it's cooler then present Benzs by far and it looks like a Man's car. It makes muscle look good. You can drive it everywhere and yet destroy someone on the track.
As for not mod'n the motor and frigging with the body I agree, more HP first, I have been talking to Jon about that, I have a AMG installed 1st gear start and have done the whole MSD and K&N deal. I should do the valves and timing chain as I don't know the complete history of the car and I think I will have it done in the US as it's cheaper then Canada to do it... Anyone here want to help me LOL... Humm raod trip!!!

Hell ya, would that exhaust work on a AMG

The SEC lowered is glued to the road, I can't imagine lowered and having tires that wide. Do you guys think that exhaust would work on a AMG model or look dumB??? Any thoughts?

Bleh. It's hard to top a nice stock SEC, slightly lowered.
