I had my ML 430 superchipped before embarking on a trip to continental Europe where I took the opportunity to max the vehicle - 136 mph on the clock in fourth or fifth, Has anyone any idea if this is faster/slower than stock - I have to say, I couldn't tell any difference in acceleration but 10 -15 hp more in a car weighing over 2 tons isn't going to show. Incidentally, I later realised that the car's standard rubber was "H" rated Whoops !!

Sounds like fun! I though the ML was speed limited based on model: the 320 at 115 MPH. The 430 at 125 MPH and the ML 55 at 150(!) MPH. This is from a 2 year old memory, so could easily be wrong-o. It sounds as if you consider the chip not a good spend??

Anyway, how did yer baby feel at 130+??? I’ve had mine to a mere 100 MPH and it was so uneventful as to be boring, except that the howwwwwwwel from the skis and ski rack was pretty impressive

Cheers

…Tracy

According to the info I have, straight from the Germans mouth, so to speak, the ML430 tops out at 210 km/h, and does 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The ML320, for comparison, tops out at 180 km/h, and is noted as "controlled", the 430 is not noted as "controlled", but possibly was missed in my info.
The acceleration on the 320 is 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds.
The info Tracy gives is pretty close. By my own calculations, that's about 130mph on the 430 and 111 on the 320. I have no pertinent info on the ML55. For some reason the "Value Behind the Star" sales brochure I have (2001 edition) makes no performance references, only tech data (HP, torque, etc)

H-rated rubber

You were OK on the standard tires. The H-rating is for 130 mph, I doubt seeing 136 was in any way dangerous from a tire standpoint. Not only that but I think the ratings refer to extended use at their respective velocities.
