Hey Roman.....in your first page you outline firstly your 300E 2006 build & then the 2009 build.

You've stated 21psi for the later 650hp build but not for the early 550 hp build. What psi were you running to get 550hp on stock unopened engine? Also. Was that rwhp or bhp?

I am currently deciding on turbo size/hp output so would greatly appreciate reply.

Thanks,
Tim

my bad Thanks Joreto! How'd that thing stay together with that? Here I am considering a large turbo set to lower boost to save the engine & he just blows it all out of the water Was it the After Market ECU?

Hi the first turbo setup I had Holset HX35 and stock intake manifold and 98 oktan gas and got 560Hp at 1.7 bar

My second setup i had bigger Turbo TB-GT45, custom intake manifold and running Ethanol E85 and got 650Hp/780Nm 590WHP at 1.5bar

Today i run only 0.8-0.9bar with my daily driver car 300CE and I got 450Hp at 0.64 bar and at 0.8 bar 500hp.

Our other 300CE (TB70 turbo) running 1.7-1.8 bar and got 675hp by running E85.

All those is stock engines.
Soon we will see how long m103 can handle 2.5-3.0 bar

I'll be watching for this I can't understand how the stock engines take that boost. I am right now in the middle of building my 87' 300E on LPG so no CIS & contemplating what turbo & boost to run. I believe I'll need an after market ECU like Megasquirt. I just thought with stock compression, 8.7:1 that with a large turbo you need to keep psi (bar) down?

Any advice would be so appreciated

P.S. did you use a modified head gasket on any of your cars you mentioned?

P.P.S.S. That is 9.2:1 comp, not 8.7, sorry

.....since found out in kynsi's project thread you used stock head gaskets on those crazy engines Roman I knew you made multi-layer SS gaskets but wasn't sure if you'd used them on these. All good!

the 103 takes that kind of boost on std internals because they are way over engineered, no cost cutting measures were taken when they were designed, and that is a big plus for us now, cause we can abuse the hell out of them!!

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

Wow I'm amazed at how much boost and power the stock m103 engine can take .

Hey Roman,

Could you please let me know what rpm you ran on the dyno for the 2 engines in your 1st post, to get the hp you have stated for each?

650hp with 1000cc injectors = ?rpm

550hp with 680cc injectors = ?rpm

P.S. although my build is totally different than yours Roman, using LPG & auto trans but would still like to know a safe rpm range for dyno tuning the M103 engine?

I want to see how car goes @ 15psi (1 bar) with GT3540R .63 A/R. May change up to .84 A/R if I'm not happy with performance (but severely doubt it )

What do you suggest would be the most efficient/effective rpm limit to push the M103 at say 10psi; 15psi or 20psi? At what rpm does powerband start to level off? I know you've pushed your engine way over redline but is this necessary?

Appreciate your reply mate

Tim

Hi!

You can only compare my RPM and only if you run with twinentry manifold and twinscroll turbinhousings otherwise it will be very different results.

My first setup
TB60 turbocharger
60mm inducer
0.84 turbinhosing T3 twinentry manifold
570Hp at 5400rpm and 1.7bar

Sesond setup
GT45 Turbo
70mm inducer
1.05 turbin with T4 twinentry manifold
650hp at 6500RPM and only 1.5bar

less boost and more power. Means that bigger turbocharger more effective and the curve is softer and less lag

We stil have one car with the same setup like my first setup and it has faster spoolup then my car but you feel when you lose power after 5500-5800rpm so I would never run smaller turbocharger then TB60 with 0.84housing.

My daily driver car is 300ce-24v and it is the same setup like my blue car with GT45 and i run only 1bar and i just love the effect curve. revlimit at 8000rpm

Daniels 300ce12v (TB60) revlimit at 7000rpm
Petros 300ce 12v (TB70) revlimit at 8000rpm
Rasmus c36 (gt45) revlimit at 7000rpm

All cars has auto trannys and LSD diff

I think it is difficult to compare our cars becaurse we use only special twin entry manifolds, SA EFI and mostly run E85 Ethanol

About GT35 and 0.63 housing and you will probably get backpressure becaurse turbin is too small for so big engine.

We got pretty much backpressure by using GT35 on BMW 325 by running 1.3 bar

And it is pointless to spend your money on ball bearing GT35R. You not going to feel any different by using ball bearing turbocharger on big inline 6 engine.
We allready tested it too
