Correct me if I am wrong, but you can use standard brake pads of slotted rotors, but you must use metallic one sof drilled. Is this correct? I was thinking about buying some new rotors that look a lot better then the OEM ones, so should I go with slotted or cross-drilled? Thanks

You should be able to use either type of brake pads, but my understanding is that cross-drilled rotors unless chamfered eat pads much quicker.
Also, unless the holes are part of the casting process, they increase metal fatigue. Slotted or grooved rotors (e.g. ATE Powerdisc) are much better, IMHO. :-) neil 1988 300TE w/ATE PowerDiscs |

Hey there,
Well, if you are going for looks. I'd go for the Cross drilled rotors. Stillen makes CDR for use w/ street applications and can be used w/ stock brake pads. I have them on my 16V and they look and perform great. Regards, Clinton Davis '86 190E 2.3-16V |

Check out this site for some awesome brake-kits:
http://www.ultimategarage.com/bigbrake1.html Note- these Porsche rotors have the holes CAST into them. Also, they feature an INTERNAL venting system to increase the energy-to-heat function. FWIW, stock SL600 rotors are similar in design of the venting, but definitely not in the composition or cast holes. Good luck, :-) neil |
