Vintage AMG Japan- What do we know about it?
I was just checking out this site, http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:8zs...0SEC+6.0&hl=en, and was wondering about AMG Japan. Was this a seperate division of AMG or were these cars produced in Affalterbach? Many of the badges and engine info cards are stamped with AMG Japan on these cars. Some very nice examples on this page (at the top of the page). I have seen many photos like these on Japanese websites but was just wondering about AMG Japan.

The listed domain is an "A" record for google.com; do you have a direct URL for the (Japanese) company in question, please? |

Japan imported German made AMG's but also had their own AMG facility (AMG of Japan) where stock MB vehicles were modified (under license of AMG). I don't believe this facility exists anymore (since MB bought AMG).
AMG of Japan vehicles will carry a specific VIN plate stating AMG of Japan. German made AMG's have German AMG identification, thats the easiest way of identifing the two. At one time I was told that AMG of Japan tuned vehicles could not be sold outside of Japan. |

I don't think that one lists the price, but judging by the others there, entirely too much. They want $60,000 U.S. for the SEC's with Hammer engines. Makes me wonder if they'd take mine on a trade in!

Ah, be carefull, the 93 E60 is not a REAL E60, that is...its not tuned by AMG in Germany or is it listed as one of the original 15 models AMG built. A real 95 E60 is the first car on the page and is going for 14.9 million yen, or roughly 133,000 and some change.
