1985 300TD For Sale - Ivory/Palomino
Well maintained Classic White/Palomino 1985 Mercedes 300TD For Sale:
$15,000 obo Email me for more questions: jobietan@gmail.com 230k miles Located in San Mateo, CA I bought the car from Blue Nelson, classic MB hunter. The wagon was reportedly owned by Diane Cannon, former actress and wife of Cary Grant. Before purchase, I had a PPI performed by W123 guru, John Razzie in Southern California. The wagon has been an awesome part of our family during this past year. We've been able to picnic in the trunk while the restaurants have been made to do takeout only (even blew a birthday cake in it!) It has inspired me to get a bigger car for some car camping! Reach out if you have questions! Features: 3M window tint Ceramic Pro - installed by Auto Werks Detailing Coco Mats Aftermarket stereo with bluetooth and mic/phone Items replaced within the past year (receipts for all): New Rear Axles New SLS Valve New SLS accumulators New Bilstein HD front shocks New front brake rotors and pads Engine mounts Transmission mount Engine shocks Both lower ball joints Both tie rods Rear brake rotors and pads New mono valve R134a AC I was approached by the RadForSale guys to try their auction but unfortunately, it did not meet the reserve. Nice ride!
I did indeed see it on RadForSale and although I like the idea of having alternatives to BAT and I appreciate you giving them a chance, I don't think enough people frequent that site (or this one) to get the kind of money you are looking for. At least not yet. No harm in trying though but eventually I think you are going to have to break down and put it on BAT. Here's one that just popped up on BAT that is very similar to yours in appearance and condition and it's already almost at 12K and the auction still has 6 days left (at least at the time of me posting this.) You should follow this auction, see how it goes and then list yours on there. It's really nice for sure! Good luck! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1982-mercedes-benz-300td-turbo-24/ P.S. Not to be nit-picky but... Diane Cannon is spelled Dyan Cannon. Just an FYI. |

Thanks @johnbob.
I’ll give BAT a shot. I actually tried them in the past for my Datsun 510. I am almost sold it on there, just 1500 short of my $20k reserve. I ended up selling outside of BAT. I thought I’d give Rad guys a shot. The BAT process and audience can be quite exhausting. Especially the frequent commenters without any intention of bidding. Thanks for the Dyan Cannon correction. Cheers! |

Yeah, I've never actually sold something on BAT yet but I know exactly what you're talking about regarding the non-bidding commenters. They are brutal for sure, which is why I welcome alternatives to BAT but it will take some time before any other site can give BAT a run for their money, unfortunately. Anyway, kudos to you for giving them a shot.

Exactly, non bidding commentors are horrible.
BAT is definitely hit or miss I listed my 84’ euro wagon on BAT in February , it was an import car, federalized. I made multiple cross countey trips on it, never let me down. Paint was not original on some panels, and speedometer was changed. Anyways, the non bidders were very bruttle, on these 2 points. I sent many videos, invoices, etc. basically was honest on everything It didnt make reserve, just a waste if time 3 days later it sold on Facebook to a Mercedes restoration shop. He saw it in person, drove it and bought it for himself to commute to work. He couldnt belive his luck, and this is the true expert that reatores vintage mercedes for a living Point is, a lot of critics on BAT, that dont know jack. The so called experts criticize the car to death, scare away potential bidders. Last edited by lada03; 05-17-2021 at 09:23 PM. |

Yeah!
I'm confused about a recent comment about the rear third row. I was unaware that you can get a third row without having ordered it straight from the factory? And that you can only have a factory ordered third row if you had rear head rests. I've seen a few wagons without rear head rests and third row seats. Does that mean they have all been installed after? Why does it matter? It's still a third row meant for the 300td. |
