1966 Mercedes Benz 230SL
A very beautiful car and a fantastic car to drive. This car runs and drives great; this 230 is very comfortable to drive, with a smooth shifting transmission and a responsive engine. The paint and body are in very good condition; all the lenses and lights are in good condition.Body solid, no rust and clean underside. I have changed the oil every 6 months, even though I drive the car less than 100 miles per month. Mechanically well working and driving condition. It has not been restored, but rather has been well maintained and is in solid driver condition, making it an ideal choice for an enthusiast looking for a usable classic to enjoy as is, or gradually bring up to a higher standard.
Serious buyers only. $37,000 OBO |

Maybe not first post, same year / model and poor ad copy.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-cars-sale/373393-fs-1966-mercedes-benz-230sl-pagoda-%2462-750-a.html " I have changed the oil every 6 months, even though I drive the car less than 100 miles per month. " And my reply to that other post: Changing oil at that frequency is extreme overkill with modern oils. While the car may be nice, that part of the ad makes it suspect. I take that as: The engine is really dirty and needs frequent changes to clean it up. The fuel system is running super rich and diluting the oil. Someone told me to do this and I believe them. I never let the engine warm up so it if full of moisture. Craigslist hype: Since new, always garaged, never in rain, frequent oil changes using synthetic, hand washed waxed , never smoked in. . . |
