[FS] 1999 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel - New Jersey - 238k - $6500 obo
This is a Texas original car that has spent most of its time in California. I purchased this car from its original owner in 2005, and it has been my driver for the past nine years. I recently moved to New Jersey (for grad school) -- lucky you, this car is California clean. Selling because I've picked up something else and have no need for two cars.
Details: 1999 Mercedes-Benz E300 Turbodiesel VIN: WDBJF25H5XA859245 Odometer: 238,100 miles No accidents. Clean title in hand. Located in Princeton, NJ. Asking $6500 obo. I won't go into detail on the specs -- 174 hp -- 243 lb-ft -- 26/36 rated mpg. The 606.962 is one of Mercedes's last gems. No electronic wizard controls, no balance shafts. Mechanics are in disbelief that this one has 238k on the clock (very little timing chain stretch, camshaft wear, and cylinder wall wear). Whoever buys it is getting a fantastic engine. The good: Engine is smooth and powerful. No fuel leaks. Transmission shifts flawlessly with no slipping. Suspension is in great shape (tie rods, ball joints, bushings all <1.5 yrs old). Tires and brakes are new. No body rust (CA/TX car). No CEL. All gauges / LCD's work. Has never been smoked in. Headliner professionally re-covered last summer (see photos). No dash cracks. Headlamp lenses are one year old. Oil changes have been just about every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 European synthetic. AC works. All electronics / CD changer / door locks / mirrors / windows / alarm work. Functionally, this car is 100%. Recent service items:
I replaced the injector nozzles with Bosio units about four years ago, really purrs and makes good power. No smoke on acceleration, unless you really get into it. As you might conclude from my handle, I did run biodiesel for awhile. That was seven years ago, and as a result, every fuel line has been replaced since. That said, it ran even more smoothly on biodiesel and would make a great candidate for someone looking to run alternative fuels. The bad: Standard issues for a car of this mileage. Rock chips, a few small door dings, missing side-view mirror toggle cap. MB-tex on seats is perfect, but the leather inserts show some minor wear. Two cracks in the walnut trim, visible if you look the right way. Rear sunshade is stuck in the up position (hasn't bothered me, but it is an easy enough fix). Mechanically, there's nothing that needs serious work. Full disclosure: The instrument cluster has been replaced with one of identical P/N. The mileage on the new one is (surprise) lower, so it does not indicate the actual mileage. The mileage you see in the listing is correct (238,100 mi). The odometer has always been fully functional and the cluster was changed for an unrelated reason. Nothing to be concerned about. Options: Bose sound, glass sunroof, rear sunshade, Mercedes OEM rubber floor mats, boost gauge mounted under inspection sticker (factory panel included). Included: Two wireless keys, all manuals, original window sticker, Dire Straits CD that has been in the car since original owner took delivery. Registered and inspected in NJ August 2014. Prior registration in TX (1999-Aug 2005) and CA (Aug 2005-Aug 2014). The CARFAX: CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 1999 MERCEDES-BENZ E300TD
