Looked at 1964 220 in Dallas, TX
I looked at this car today:
MERCEDES BENZ COLECTION 1964 $4,000 O.B.O. The worst of it is the body, which seems to have extensive bondo work and a poor paintjob. That was the killer for me. The interior is decent, the engine runs but has a tapping that sounds like valve noise. I did not drive it. It is a model 220 with 4 speed manual on the column. The car has Mexican license plates and a Mexican title. The VIN plates were in Spanish, which is a bit weird, and one of them said "Hecho en Mexico". I know MB has a plant in Mexico since the 1990s, but I did not think they made any there in the 1960s. Maybe Mexico has strict import laws, and they were made with knock-down-kits? Csaba |
