1993 Mercedes 300D 2.5 Turbo in Chicago

I have decided to sell my 1993 300D located in Hyde Park, 15 mins south of downtown Chicago.

$5200 obo.

Many many photos here:

This is the 2nd 2.5 Turbo I have owned over the years and I can attest that they are some of the best cars on the road. My first had over 500K miles on the clock before I traded it.

This 300D has about 132K miles. I am the second owner and the original owner was a true "old lady" driver who put 75K miles on it over 14 years. It was garage kept and well serviced and when my mechanic looked it over before my purchase, he actually commented on the fact that everything under the car and hood looked nearly factory new. I've had it for about 3 years now I think and it's not quite as clean looking but still in very good shape. I also have garaged the car and changed oil and fuel filters regularly. Some newer parts, starter, fan clutch and belt (old belt frayed and messed up the fan clutch), radiator, brakes, shutoff valve. I think that's it.

The car drives beautifully. Still very tight and solid. Everything works except for the A/C, rear headrest release and the antenna (needs a new mast only). Also one of the headlights is very dim on the low beam. Cruise works sometimes and sometimes not (likely cruise box plug just needs cleaning with contact cleaner).

There seems to be Deisel fuel leaking from one of the injector return lines but I haven't had the energy to fix that and it is not affecting mileage. I do get about 29MPG regularly in the city.

Turbo whistles along nicely.

I installed an aftermarket heated seat pad into the drivers seat. The product was from the same manufacturer that supplies major car companies so it's supposedly very relable. It works great in Chicago.

The car has power everything including the rear sun shade.
I don't think there are any other installed factory options. Just the standard stuff that most MB's have.

I have a Blaupunkt CD and MP3 palyer professionally installed. It has Bluetooth so you can use a cell phone handsfree through the speakers. Pretty nice raidio with remote control as well and you can hook up a thumb drive with MP3's.

I have a car alarm with remote power door locks installed...also a quality professional install job.

Oh, there IS a small crack on the front windsheild at the bottom right. Not noticable and it was repaired sucessfully by SafeLight.

The A/C worked last summer. It does not appear to be cycling the compressor so it probalby has lost freon or is low on pressure. I have not taken it to get re-charged or sealed. In my experience these cars can sometimes need a new evaporator which can be expensive. Hopefully it is something simple becuase it was working and very cold last summer.

I think the tires are pretty good can't recall the brand but they are well known and rated highly for this car. I have 4 snow tires and rims that I'll include too.

No rust on the car. There are some dings that are starting to slightly corrode but I plan on touching those up before it becomes a problem.

I can't really think of anything else to say about the car. I beleive this is a rare specimen though. Very good shape and very low miles. Paint looks like new.
It is not perfect but since I now have a 2 year old and a daughter on the way, I just don't have the energy to fix cars anymore. I'd rather sell this as is and let somebody else love it.

Please email with any questions.

1993 300d Mercedes for Sale

It looks like maybe you have a 400,000+ mile car with a 120,000 mile + engine + lots of new parts over the years. If so you should point out that fact in the listing. I revoke any of my offers.

Actually, that 1993 300D that you are confusing was Champaign in color and was my car for many years until I traded it to my father who drove it for many more years until the timing chain broke and he replaced the engine (it's was recently sold for $2500 with almost 500K miles on the chassis). The white 300D that I have now has a true 130K miles with all original parts and engine. VIN number will match. I've owned 3 of these cars and two 190's and 2 240D's.

I do not cheat people and am fully up front with any issues the car may have.
I will hang on to your email if you want and let you know if I end up deciding to accept your offier.
