I am putting one of my beloved trucks up for sale. This is an extremely rare truck, you won't find another one for sale. I will spare you telling you what the truck has. This particular 404 is the more rare and desirable Hard Cab model. It was originally a Forestry Firefighting truck in South West Germany. It spent 30 years on the job before being decommissioned in 1995. It was imported in 2000 by Offroad Imports of Rhode Island. This truck received a new factory engine from Eurotruck Importers approx. 3000 kilometers ago. The truck has 29,600 original kilometers which is just over 18,000 miles. Most of these Unimog 404's spent their life sitting around waiting for action (Military, Firefighting, Maintenance, etc). I have many thousands invested into maintenance and TLC.

Modifications:
*12.5R20 Michelin XL Tires (A size up from factory, includes two spares)
*Larger "Tropical" Cooling System
*Complete "Civilian" Ignition System w/ Electronic Ignitor (Allows for replacement parts to come from Civilian Model vehicles, runs much smoother)
*Standard Tow Receiver mounted below Military Pintle
*Transmission Temperature Gauge


Maintenance Highlights:
*All Fluids Freshly Changed (Engine, Air Cleaner, Transmission, Axles, Portals, etc)
*Recent Factory Engine & Clutch
*Recent Paint
*New Generator, Starter, and Voltage Regulator
*Freshly Rebuilt Carburetor


The truck runs and drives great, and has no issues. I have owned the truck almost a year and have gone through the truck top to bottom. Everything works. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I drive the truck on a regular basis. Around town, to dinner, to the shops, or through the swamp. It will take you anywhere.

First I really really want this ha. Second what type of engine does it have in it, also what is top speed / fuel mileage.

It has an M180 2.2L I6 from some of the Mercedes sedans.

Top speed...I've had it up to 65 on flat ground, which is quick for a 404.

Highway 50-55mph. 10-15 MPG depending.

So, does this TLF have any of the existing fire fighting equipment? I am specifically trying to track down a pumper that still works.
