Selling 1994 E500 for a friend
Nice car, tons and tons of maintenance and repair including upper harness, rebuilt trans with warranty, and more. Close to $15K in work and parts.
Drives great, two sets of wheels/tires, some nice/tasteful upgrades, nothing deferred or left to chance. Not perfect cosmetically but easily rectified, left rear quarter was repainted a while back and does not look great. A couple nics/scuffs, but all pretty minor stuff. For $500-$600, I can remedy that and any other minor cosmetics. You can see more detail here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150361864631&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT I know dealers are not supposed to list cars here, but this is for someone else's car, I am not profiting from the sale (I will get my $58.95 ebay fee back though), and you'll be paying the owner directly, etc. I just did the ebay ad for him. Currently has 155K miles, asking is $13.9K but he'd take $12K I am pretty sure. Is that out of whack considering miles, condition, and maintenance/repairs listed in the ebay ad? I am not that much up on the market price for 500E/E500. Thanks for listening. Bruce |

All the 500Es in the completed listing ebay section stalled out at around 8 grand. I doubt any of them have the same maintenance provenance, but they all had far less miles.
Poor Brodie has been trying to sell his euro 500E for a year now at the same price, and its got lower mileage, an excellent maintenance history, higher HP, manual AC controls, etc. 1991 500E - Euro Import Model - Very Rare My guess is the auction will stall out in that 8 grand range unless you get two bidders going on emotion (or one if you shill). What turns me off on this car is the older photos in snow, and the nasty salty grime of the North coating the oxidized wheels/tires, door jams, engine bay, and interior. Also, 12 grand in service records and its missing a hood star? Perhaps you can re-shoot the car after a detail and a hood star? I really do hope to own one of these some day.

Yeah, obviously I took the pics a while back. And I am big on taking good pics after quality detailing, so this is not my typical style.
I didn't notice the hood star, but certainly the owner will buy one..he does not skimp out. I see what you mean about the $8K range.....so I guess we'll see what happens. Who knows, maybe he'll just want to take the money and run. B |
