Exclamation WTB a cheap economical car

I've got a 560SEL thats in too nice of a shape to use as an everyday car. Its low mileage(64k miles) and in perfect shape.. and I want to keep it that way since its so hard to find a replacement incase something bad happens. I was planning on fixing my 300SEL up, but the damage is greater than what I could handle... so I am parting it out and am looking for a smaller and more fuel efficient car.

Here is my wants:

*Mercedes make
*diesel or gas
*201, 124 or 123
*preffer a 2-door(124 or 123), but 4 is good
*no structural damage or rust
*good interior... nothing that resembles a rat's nest.
*in good driving order
*within several hours of driving range from where I live
*CHEAP price... don't write to me with a car thats $2500 or more, please.. I won't be paying that much.

Looking to make a purchase soon.. and I am interested. PM me or email me at
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have it! 1980 240D.

I have a low mileage 123. Diesel, 4door, stick. In Louisville KY. It does have rust but also has, new tires, brake pads. A terrific driver with excellent interior and nice glass and chrome, stainless, and aluminum trim. Have maintenance records. Air blows cold! Does have rust through on front fenders, front doors. NO STRUCTUAL damage of any KIND!! No body has bought it yet. I'm asking $2000.00 but with no interest looks like I have to come down.

Hmm.. too bad its a 240D. From what I read.. I think I would prefer a turbo 300. Also, the rust THROUGH fenders and door is not something I would want. It'd look awkward having a rusty car parked next to a pristine rust free example. I;ll be still looking... saw several nice 300D's driving around town today.

Understand

I can't blame you if you can't fix the rust through. I can but I have 5 projects in front of it. Don't discount a 240D. If they are set up right they'll run pretty good. This one is capable of sustaining 80 mph all day long with the air blowing. Temp stays at 82 Centigrade. They were(are) used as taxi's in Europe. Very durable setup. manual windows, transmission, and climate contols. the old computer in the car is the cruise control which needs to be resoldered. It engages but won't hold speed. typical of the breed. Ernie

My roommate has an 89 190E 2.6 thats taking up space in my backyard that he needs to sell soon. Do you have any interest in that? He got it from a salvage yard we deal with all the time and it was ther because it didn't run, but he has it in good running shape now, although the car has a salvage title.

It would be a candidate if it didnt have a salvage title. Do you know why it has one? Its got nice wheels, Euro lights and nice color. MD is also a distance for me to travel to see the car in person.

However, I noticed a 1983 300CD(assuming this is a turbo model) that you will be putting an engine in and selling in your signature. Can you provide anymore info on it?

I will be but its going on ebay probably starting at 2K , I am still in the middle of doing a top end rebuild on the new engine for it.

The 190 has a salvage title simply because of where we got it from. Any car that ends up in that yard, no matter what the condition, if it is good enough to be put back on the road, the state requires it be sold with a salvage title only. That car actually never made it physically into the yard. It was sitting out front when I went up there one time so I asked about it. My friend eventually bought it since he needed a car after selling his other one, but he bought an MR2 in the last two weeks, so this one needs to go. It might end up on ebay as well. There's 171,576 miles on it and heres a list of whats been done recently: new spark plugs, cap and rotor, trans cooler lines, oil service, installed euro headlamps with vacuum operation inside, both rear door checks, new pads and rotors in the rear, main engine belt and belt shock. The rims on it are mine and aren't currently being sold with the car. The car is also wired for xenon, although he may not sell them with the car, i'm not sure.
