Living with a CLK430?
I have an opportunity to trade my BMW 323i for a '99 CLK430. Some cash is involved, but I am surprised how little since the CLK was 50K new and the BMW was 26K new. We also have a 300e in the garage and love how tough this car is (although it has not been completely trouble free). The sturdiness of the 300e is the main reason for interest MB.
What are the opinions of people on the board about the CLK430. I have heard complaints that the Cab is not that stiff, but I am looking at the coupe. Also I really wonder how I will like the V8. I have allot of respect for perfectly balanced six cylinders. Opinions are welcome. Bill |

The CLK is one of my favorite MB cars. I think it is an excellent looking and engineered car. I would say it drives awesome, but that would be a little bit of an understatement as the only CLK I have driven is my dad's CLK55 AMG

I would get it if I were you! The CLK is truly a wonderful car to drive/own. Although the car does have its gremlins sometimes, I don't mind them at all. The pleasure of driving it far outweighs the problems. . .

It's gone.
Well I didn't act fast enough; someone else bought it. The deal was too good, I should have jumped at it. I thought I could get the car for $41,000 Can ($25,000 US). It was almost too cheap even by Canadian standards. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until another comes along.

Donīt regret it too much.
The CLK is a nice car, but it came out at a time when M.B. was trying desperately to lower production costs. Hence, the ugly and untasteful B-pillar that the CLK coupe fashions. True cuope-bloded M.B. have always been B-pillarless (something that costs a lot of money since the shell has to be heavely reinforced. Ir you see the pictures of new CLK, which is just coming out in Europe, is again a B-pillarless coupe, as it should have been from the first. A. Rosich S320, 1998 E320T, 1995 |
