There are rumors that Ford (& GM) are trying to buy BMW after they (Ford) bought their Rover (Land Rover) division. The Quandt family owns 48% of BMW. Volkswagen is also wants to buy BMW! Also there is speculation that Renault wants to joing with BMW. Renault now owns 37% (majority) of Nissan.

BMW will not sell... the Quandt family have already said this.
Ford did not buy Rover, *ONLY* part of the Land Rover division, which within Rover is tiny, and actually a seperate company. I dont think Ford have rights to the Freelander, which is a BMW design. Just to restate... Land Rover is NOT Rover. Rover is/was a company with 10,000 jobs which appear to be lost after BMW bosses *LIED* to the UK government to recieve a huge government grant about 2 weeks before they dumped Rover, whilst they'd been planning it for 2 months. Apparently, BMW sales have dropped by 90% in the UK. Bri ------------------ Brian Drought 1991 300CE http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~drought/ ICQ: 2180069 |
