Just saw a CL500 at the dealer. I love the look! The dual chrome exhaust tips look great! The Y2K CL-Class has dual wipers like the Y2K S-Class. Maybe the single wiper is being phased out?

Kevin,

I have yet to see one myself. But judging from the pics from MB main site, the car should be as striking as BMW 850i when it first came out in 1991.

As for the single arm wiper(and electro-controll wiper), it would be history in less than 5 year or so. Looks like MB is cutting down production costs. Too bad, I really like the wiper, especially single arm.

If you look closely, you will notice that one of the wiper is place at the bottom, center of the windshield, just like the old W140. However, the "extend-retract-extend" action is now reproduced mechinically instead of eletronically.

Happy Motoring...

i've read in more than one car magazine more than once about the inability of the single-arm panoramic wiper to clear the windshield fast enough during strong downpours.

i would tend to agree with the critics, but i just love the look and movement of that wiper.

so what to do? just put rain-x on the windshield and drive fast.

Yes, I have read couple about slow moving wiper(s) during heavy rainfall. However, W140 has two wipers, but still is criticized for slow wiping. Hm, that makes me think that, it's MUST be MB's characteristic"...

However, I don't feel any slow than "normal" wipers. Hm, maybe it's the extend-retract-extend action of the wiper that make ppl think it's moving slower than usual?? Just a thought....

Happy Motoring...
