It's a great ride. It's very comfortable, at least up front. I don't think I'd like being stuck all the way in the back for a long trip, but I'm 6' 2". So far, we've had very few problems. I've had a few clients' complain about the tailgate not closing properly, but a simple adjustment takes care of it. Other than that I've flashed a couple COMAND systems and a handful of transmissions.
I've heard people on this and other MB forums call it an over-priced Pacifica, but I've never driven a Pacifica, so I can't say if that's accurate. I'm guessing that most of the critics haven't driven either one, but who knows? Only time will tell whether the R-Class is worth the money or not. |

It's sort of the same class of vehicle as the Pacifica, but the two are completely distinct cars, they don't share parts or engineering. The R class is built on a stretched version of the new ML chassis. (Don't recall the chassis designation.)
Haven't driven one, not particularly interested in driving one, so nothing to say on that front. I thought the mileage was abysmal - doesn't it struggle to achieve 20MPG on the highway? - JimY |

I think the mileage varied with the engine.
EPA estimates: R350: 16/21 R500: 13/18 Both are AWD with the new 7 spd. transmission (anyone know the designation 722.??) Pretty bad I guess!

The 7-speed transmission is the 722.9.
