Rich, I'm glad to have made it and send you guys off. Definitely worth the morning drive.

Dennis, I'll admit I did some post-processing, only because it was early morning strong sunlight, and to remove some details from the dried rain. But you guys brought the nice canvas (the cars themselves) and all I did was take the shots.

Buzz, I have more pics to upload but those are pretty much the highlights of the start-up meeting at least. So which one is your new desktop wallpaper image?

I think Dennis or Rich wanted to create an "archive" of past events, I'm more than happy to supply the images I took during the trips I joined.

Nice to also meet Doktor Bert's former 300SD, and its new owner (and co-pilot). I thought this was a fitting shot of you three...

Thank you MBeige and everyone for those wonderful pictures. The card in my good camera was DOA when I got to Mcdonalds, I'm glad to have something other then my cell phone pics to remember the event.

Thanks to everyone who put this event on, it was well worth the drive to SoCal!

Here are a few photos I grabbed

And finally, proof I made it home.

I hope everyone had a wonderful safe drive home!

Smile My round trip was 1,350+ miles - but utterly WORTH IT!

Wow, this one was the best drive ever so far as I am concerned, and it's the *ONE* So Cal event I would *ALWAYS* try to attend!

Many thanks to Rich and Dennis for putting this event together. It was perfect! You guys really outdid yourselves this time!

Wonderful to catch up with old friends from previous drives and meet some new ones.

I'd also love to give a special shout out to Patrick ("mbeige") for showing up to greet us and once again for his generosity with his incredible world class photographs...

Already looking forward to Rich and Dennis' NEXT event - absolutely "not to be missed".

Thanks for the wonderful event, and to everybody that showed up!

It's honestly wonderful to be part of the brotherhood which understands and truly appreciates these "Youngtimer" Mercedes-Benz diesels - (and gassers too!)

We RULE!

Until next time:

See you guys on the road!!!

too bad....

....that I did not know about this .
Latigo Canyon was my brother's old stomping grounds, and I am but 75 miles away.
How would one find out about this ?
I am on several Mercedes forums and am starting to lose track of things.

BTW: was there an age limit ?
I see no cars older than 1980 ?

Alex

Nice !

Thanks for all the pictures so far ! I see that my Ivory color 300D was represented in proxy ! jeje.

This GTG reminds me of the one we had in 2001 in NorCal. Winding sunny roads and lots of Mercedes.

I brought a Mercedes mirror to give away to a lucky number holder.
I wonder if its still floating around !
(sorry don't mean to post a past picture in any detriment to this current thread)

We try to link the events and gathering thread in Diesel Discussion, as many of the participants drive Diesels. There is no limit as to what car can go on our events, other than they MUST have a three pointed star. Any year, any model, any fuel, any driver. We have in the past had some 114/115's.

Alex,
Sorry you missed it. Please go to M.B.E.G. and sign up. I send an email notifying members of upcoming events, so you do not have to monitor the Events and Gathering thread constantly. See you at the next one.......Dennis

Well it looks like Dennis and Rich did another outstanding job putting on an awesome drive that I missed! Hope to see you all next time with a newly acquired diesel, hopefully a 300CD!

Revisiting this thread

It was nice to reminisce about the events we did years ago. Never even dreaming of one day owning a Diesel SL, it is nice seeing the posts from Paul (mach4) and his SL on the cruise. Those were fun times. Maybe my brother and I will plan another one someday......Rich

We sure enjoyed those events, and miss out little benzo.

Out of some 50 vehicles in my driving career I had never owned a car with a V8, so I got a new Dodge Challenger R/T last year. Oh my, what 375hp does for thrills!!

Still hitting cars and coffee in San Clemente most Saturdays. It is the biggest weekly car event in the country.

Happy New Year!
