Hotel Moscow in Black Lagoon, AKA the Russian mob drive nothing but W126's. It's supposed to take place in the mide to late 90's.
The Yakuza has right hand drive W126's. In one scene they had like 8 lined up, all identical. The amount of bodies the trunks will hold must be a big selling feature for them. ![]()

300td
In the film Once with Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard, there's a lot of nice shots of a 300TD on the beach.
You can see a little bit in the trailer here: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2275016985/

not sure if anyone mentioned it before but in Dan in Real Life he drives around in a 300TD the whole movie, including him trying to teach his kid to drive.

Don't see "Burn After Reading"...
...unless you want to see a W123 Turbodiesel rear-ended! Seriously, the character John Malkovich plays in the movie drives around a decent looking yellow-beige W123 sedan and gets its rear end smashed in about half way through it...it sure is odd how that car was selected to be used. The guy is very well-off, with a yacht and townhouse in Georgetown but drives around in a 25 year old Benz - well at least he has good taste!

I just got back from the movie, pretty good.
The 240D gets rear-ended by a Ford Probe, coincidentally. ![]()

I haven't seen the movie, but . . . I live near Georgetown, and I can tell you there are a surprising number of "classic" Benzes there--dozens of W126s, a few W123s, even a couple of Pontons. (Of course, being Georgetown, there are many more late model MBs and BMWs.)

I noticed a diesel MB in The Flying Scotsman when I watched it the other day, I don't remember exactly which one it was... but it was a right hand drive model... and it was in Italy... I didn't see any other posts on it when I searched... but if I'm doubling up... I'm sorry....

I've seen several episodes of the older Mission Impossible series with diesel MB's.
(I like the older Mission Impossible series. It's too bad when you mention it now, many folks think of that farce with Tom Cruise.)

W123 in Peru in "Mancora" a road movie (2008)
I just saw a new Peruvian road movie called Mancora at the International Film Festival in Mill Valley, California.
As it was a road movie, the car was featured prominently throughout the movie, going from Lima Peru, up North the coast towards the border with Ecuador The car was a W123, probably a 177 230E euro, complete with trunk triangle, that was being used, with the old black and white Pervuvian license plates on it. Proof the the classic and timeless W123 continues to be used daily all over the world for all manner of transportatioin, in this case by Peruvian teenagers that are dope smoking surfers. Cool to see an old W123 sedan racing along the Panamerican highway with surfboards lashed to its roof The W123 sedan in Peru can be seen here: http://www.mancorafilm.com/English/index.html ******************* Synopsis: Road movie, love story, and spiritual odyssey: Ricardo de Montreuil's richly atmospheric Máncora is that rare film so sensual that you not only watch it, but you also feel it. Road movie, love story, and spiritual odyssey: Ricardo de Montreuil's richly atmospheric Máncora is that rare film so sensual that you not only watch it, but you also feel it. From the stunning actors to the lush locations, it washes over you like a warm ocean wave, transporting you to beautiful Peruvian places as it tells an intoxicating tale of forbidden desire. To cope with his father’s recent suicide, Santiago decides to escape the harsh Lima winter for the picturesque beach town of Máncora. Upon his departure, he receives an unexpected visit from his beautiful stepsister, Ximena, and her arrogant husband, Inigo. The three take off on a party-fueled road trip, picking up a bohemian hitchhiker along the way before arriving in Máncora. Once in the beach town, they let loose, causing romantic tensions that threaten to tear the group apart. Máncora is a dazzling second feature by de Montreuil and a remarkable vehicle for his amazing young actors--Elsa Pataky, Jason Day, and Enrique Murciano. They scintillate on screen, nearly combusting against the breathtaking backdrop. The intense, almost-physical force of the film’s visuals creates a truly transforming experience. Indeed the magic of the film’s imagery, music, and location provides a passionate journey into a world rarely seen in film and shows off the immense talents of an exciting new cinematic voice. --© Sundance Film Festival
