W123 weight
How much does my car weigh? I need to know to register it in DC, owner's manual oddly enough doesn't specify. I already did a search. Thx

you can check the VIN number plate that is inside the driver's door jamb. it should have weights on there.

The weight is not on the door, just the GVW (how much the car can weight total, and per axle.

You can figure out the empty weight by subtracting the load capacity from the gross vehicle weight. Both are on the VIN plate in the door jam.

For example....
GVWR weight of my 300SDL is 4880 lbs. Total capacity is 930 lbs. 4880 - 930 lbs = 3950. Actual weight of that car. 4940 - 930 lbs = 4010. Actual weight of the 350SD. 4745 - 965 lbs = 3780. '97 E420, etc, etc. Blah, blah, blah. Last edited by DslBnz; 07-02-2004 at 12:47 AM. |

3515 according to these good folks:
http://home.hiwaay.net/~gbf/mbmodels.html Enough to put a big hurt on a full size Dodge Ram pickup. My daughter really liked the shocked look on the truck owners face when she moved his truck with her 300D. Nothin' but metal hurt. |
