SWAP american ECU/computer for european one?
Howdy,
my problem is, my fuel injection computer/ECU/EDS unit (whatever you want to call it - part # 0281 001 094 008 545 5032) is malfunctioning. it is not sending a signal to the turbo wastegate transducer and the dealership told me it needs to be replaced (they wanted $2100, haha) ive found used ones for cheap on car-part.com, they are all US dot versions though. i was thinking that while im replacing the computer anyway, would it be possible to swap it for a european computer? that way i could get rid of the EGR altogether (euro versions didnt have them). could this work? does anybody know where i could get a used euro computer for my 1991 300D 2.5 turbo (602.962)? if not, does anybody have a part number for it so i can look? the service manual doesnt have part numbers (dont know why). if that doesnt work, is there anybody that repairs these computers? or would a computer from a 1990 602 work just as well? when i do get a new computer, can i just unplug the old one and plug in the new one? thanks alot

Boost computer is a plug-in/plug-out install.
I would assume that any ECU that matches your ECU part number would be fine. Potomac German Auto has five or six used boost control ECU's for your car - they cost $120. |
