I used tools that I had on hand like a bottle jack under the muffler and a long handled screw driver. They worked fine for the regular donuts. I guess they probably wouldn't work too well with the chain type donuts.

I wonder if .....
some of the exhaust system (i.e. the pipes) got bent when the original donuts broke and the exhaust system hung down for a while. My mileage is now about 72,000, but the car is 17 years old with the original donuts. They looked great a couple of months ago when the car was up on a lift .

I've been real lucky to not have my exhaust system drag as some others have. I've had it hanging by one donut once.
