Anyone know what the exact size is on these for the 617?

OK, Here's the dimensions:

O-ring from Fastlane's description: 6 x 10 x 2mm

O-ring groove closest to end of shaft: 6.4mm
O-ring wall closest to end of shaft: 7.6mm

O-ring groove farthest from end of shaft: 9.5mm
O-ring wall farthest from end of shaft: 10.5mm

As you can see both the groove and wall diameters are different. Notice that the O-ring has to stretch 3.5mm to fit the groove with the larger diameter.

So it seems to me that there should be 2 different size O-rings for perfect fit.

However, since you have said the same O-ring is used for both diameters, I put the oil filter cap back on using the same size O-rings.

I just went to Fastlane's link to order a couple of these O-rings. Only .69¢ each.
But$4.92 shipping!
Is this BS or what?!?
They could easliy but put in a 5¢ envelope and be sent USPS for 37¢.

BTW, why are there two metal washers in the oil filter gasket pack? They both seem to fit the oil plug.

liet,

$.42 shipping and $4.50 handling.

About the 2 metal washers: I have no opinion. LOL

I can buy a box of 300 Nitrile o-rings (assorted sizes) for $5 at HarborFreight (I'm not sure whether any of them will fit the oil filter shaft), so .69 for each those TINY o-rings is already a very ridiculous price. They're just rubber, not even metal.

Nitrile rubber is resistant to oil.

If they're nothing special I think I can get these O-rings in the hardware section of our local drug store and I doubt they'll be more than 10¢ each.

Guess my oil change will wait for the new O-rings to show up....

I replace mine every other oil change also... When I first got my SD almost 16 yrs ago, I went 4 oil changes before changing, and they cracked off in small pieces.

Since going to every other, no problems with cracked o-rings...
