Can anyone offer any tips or suggestions on
replacing the lower ball joints on a 126 style chassis ?

Not a do-it-yourself project. Special tools needed!

Just replaced all balljoints in my 84 300sd.
Notthat difficult a job. The ball joints require a special tool to press out the old and press in the new. The tool can be rented from Performance Products or you can see if your local dealer will do the pressing. for a fee of course. The job is more labor than difficulty.
