EZ,

As far as Mobil 1 in a 603 engine, why should it be any different than any other Diesel engine. I have been using Mobil 1 15W50 in my 616 engine for the last 130,000 miles. Now the engine has total of 250,000 miles.

I just took off the valve cover yesterday and the engine is about as clean as it can be. I can run my finger over anyplace on the cam or head where the oil has drained away and not a bit of sludge is to be found. So why should there be any sludge in any other parts of the engine. I change the oil and filter every 10,000 miles.

I change the oil myself, often when I'm away from home. Seems like usually I'm away from home when the odometer rolls over another 10,000 miles. So I just change the oil the old fashioned way: remove the drain plug and loosen the lower oil cooler connection wherever I am. I don't even have to jack up the car or run it up on ramps and the oil filter changes easily from the top.

Got my car back from the MB deraler today. Oil pressure is back to normal after reinstalling the windage tray that came loose and dropped into the oil pan, replacing two piston oilers that were damaged and replacing the oil pump.

Next project is fixing the seals on the injector pump that are leaking motor oil. MB dealer here will do it for 4.5 hours labor plus parts, does this sound about right?
